Living in Australia this is a worrying trend but exetel is a very small isp and they have done something's towards slowing and de prioritising p2p before.

Im not sure why but they seem to dislike it. they offer huge offpeak download limits then restrict what people do with them. I'm glad I didn't go with them :P and I feel fairly safe my isp wont follow suit :).

Internet and Australia don't seem to go together our government seem to want to destroy it to :P.

Given that exetel appeals to people who want big download limits (general use p2p) this may cause them a lot more harm than good.

OK let me see if I can get this straight......they want you to actually PAY them to CUT your p2p traffic in half for certian times if you use p2p? Even though YOU pay just as much as everyone else but they are singling you out for using p2p? And they actually think there will not be a backlash? All I can say is...I want some of whatever they are smoking... because it MUST be good if they believe they will not lose customers in droves becuase of this.

If they actually believe that people will just lay down and take this then they have another thing comming. If however people DO go ahead and accept it then those people are the fools and get what they deserve! There is absolutely NO WAY I would let my cable company treat me this way. But I can say that if they ever do I can kiss my broadband service goodbye because I simply would not tolerate it. I would go back to dial up and just read email and surf the net.

You fools if even one group of people take it up the ass with this bullshit policing of bandwidth / internets then more will come to police and eventually more people will give up as more and more "police". Those Aussies better get off their asses and start throwing beer bottles at their ISPs.

@ Jau Peacecraft....yeah I think you are exactly on target! If they DO impliment this they will not just stop at p2p....anyone who thinks they will is either crazy or stupid.

People in Austrailia need to stand up for their rights NOW or they will be run over by their ISP.
