Sony Pictures Will Release 50GB Blu-ray Disk First

Sony Pictures announced they will be the first studio to officially release a movie on the dual-layer Blu-ray disk (50GB).

Expect to see their first movie, Click, released by October 10th from Sony and then they will be releasing Black Hawk Down by November 14th. Soon after, for December 12th, Sony will release Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.

It is rumored that Click will have all the usual extras that the original DVD contains but the other releases are touting “unique playlist technology” and other extras on the disk that the DVD does not currently employ.

Many HD DVD users have been very happy with the releases coming to them but Blu-ray has not been keeping up with the future just yet. It seems HD DVD got ahead of the game. We’ll see how Blu-ray can keep up with them as they begin several releases for Blu-ray customers.

Especially when you consider a 750MB XVID encoded flic is just fine.
