Once again the DMCA (Digital Media Copyright Act) is being used to thrash our rights. Sony has come forward and pressed a $9 million lawsuit against Divineo, a seller of mod-chips, for selling the chips coupled with HDLoader. HDLoader gives one the ability to rip games on a PS2 and store them to a harddrive for access later via a “jukebox” setup.
Divineo used to sell a ton of major brand chips for this same use and they are based in France but that won’t stop Sony from being upset and slapping some paperwork in front of them for this offense.
Do you think Sony has a right to go after Divineo on this infringement or have they gone too far, once again, with their action against others regarding their “rights”?
