Trying to find a niche in the online movie download market BitTorrent, the actual file-transfer service that is, plans to start selling foreign films and other hard to find video from places such as China, Japan and India.later this year.
“We needed a niche, so we plan to offer content no one else is using,” said Ashwin Navin, president and a co-founder of BitTorrent, in an interview.
Using it’s proven BitTorrent software for fast, reliable delivery, it hopes to have an alternative means of competing against the recently launched Unbox by Amazon or Apple’s iTunes. It’s conetnt wil also be DRM compliant to ease the fears of foreign producers and directors.
This may just be the niche BitTorrent needs to compete against the heavyweights. Now if only I had the guts to watch some Chinese Soap Operas.
