| Considering the craze over YouTube and MySpace that has overtaken the world as of late, there is an increasing demand to learn how to rip video and audio from pages on these sites. I'll first go over how to rip video clips with a guide on how to rip audio to follow. Now the only sticking point with this guide is that it requires you to use the Mozilla Firefox internet browser. So if you aren't using Firefox already, now's the time to do so. ![]() Next we need to download and install the VIDEO DOWNLOADER extension tool for Firefox. (CLICK ON IMAGE TO ENLARGE) ![]() (CICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE EXTENSION) ![]() This will bring up the extension download toolbox, where you simply click "Install Now" to proceed. ![]() This will be followed by a simple dialogue box that merely notes how one must restart Firefox for the Video Downloader extension to be fully installed. ![]() So now it's time to set up the Video Downloader extension tool. Start by clicking the "View" tab on the top of the browser, selecting through "Toolbars" and finally to "Customize..." ![]() This will open up the toolbar customizer box. The tool we want to put on the toolbar is of course the "Video Downloader" extension. Select it with your mouse and then simply drag and drop it anywhere on your toolbar. ![]() ![]() After you've finished dragging it onto the toolbar, close the toolbar customizer box by clicking "Done." So now that we've finished installing and setting up the Video Downloader tool, it's time to take it for a test drive. Start by going to a YouTube or MySpace page of your own choosing. One you are on the page with the embedded video you wish to copy click on the Video Downloader tool on Firefox's toolbar as pictured below. (CLICK ON IMAGE TO ENLARGE) This will then open up Video Downloader. Displayed in it's dialogue box will be a listing of all the video media available to be downloaded. Simply click the "Download Link" tab adjacent to whichever videos you wish to download. It's that easy. (CLICK ON IMAGE TO ENLARGE) ![]() NOTE: Be sure that the download path for Firefox is set up to your personal preferences as shown in the sequence of images that follow. Selecting "Options..." from the "Tools" tab will bring up the Options menu. ![]() In the Options menu simply choose the desired save path for your files and then select "OK" to finish. ![]() Now that we've selected and saved the video from whichever site was chosen, it's time to go over how to play them on your PC. They are ".SWV" or Shockwave Video files so in order to properly play them we must either convert them to .AVI, .MPEG, etc.for playback on normal media players like Windows Media Player or WinAmp, or one can simply use the illustrious VLC Player where no further work is required. To convert the video files to .AVI or .MPEG, the quickest and easiest method is to use WinAVI. There's a guide here on Zeropaid that goes over how to convert them titled DVD Authoring with WinAVI. Instead of selecting "DVD" of course where it asks for the desired output type, choose MPEG 1. Personally, I recommend using VLC Player, as its's the fastest and easiest way to playback your downloaded video files. It also comes in handy when trying to play .BIN or .ISO files as well. Remeber to to stay tuned for the next guide in this series, "How to Rip Music from MySpace" Digg It!! |

I prefer the Firefox plugin. It seems to work better.

Movies that you download may appear corrupt to some programs, particularly AVI files downloaded from Google Video. You may have to re-encode them using a program like AVS Video Convertor. If you want to convert amongst video formats, I recommend a program called "Super" at
http://www.erightsoft.net/Superdc.html
It works great for converting those FLV (Flash video) files to AVI/MPG.
http://www.ripzor.com/
select the item and hit command c to copy the url then in a new window paste the url and hold the option key and hit return.
now safari is downloading
A way much easier way to grab Youtube video is to use zillatube (from http://www.zillatube.com ).
It also converts to high quality videos of different formats, to be played on various devices. Neat, just one software to do all these.
It is a free online Youtube video downloader...you don't have to download any program!
Simply copy and paste Youtube link in the form and follow instructions.
Just go to http://www.myspacegrab.com
Everything you need to grab myspace songs is there. No downloading or installing complicated software. Just click and download. That's it!
