If paying a tax on shit would shut the music industry up stop the lawsuits and all the other bullshit I would say go for it. I have no problems with a fourty dollar tax on a 30GB mp3 player IF and only IF *ALL* of the bullshit ceases.

I WISH they would do this in the US but it may take awhile for the big entertainment industry execs here to get it through their heads that if they do not change they are going to die.

They also need to stop being so greedy and realize that at a flat tax would alleviate a lot of problems such as lawsuits which in turn causes people to hate the entertainment industry.

Oh well I believe it will happen even in the US eventually…WHEN is another story.

But heres the thing the criaa keeps bitching saying they should be able to sue canadians and are always trying to pass news laws to allow themselves the power to do that. The other problem with taxing cdr’s and giving the money solely to the music industry is it individualises the music industry even tho both movies videogames and applications are burnt with cdr’s. Why should the music industry be the only one making money from it. Basically in the end it just comes down to the music industry having friends in office which is just a really bad thing.

Why would anyone want to pay more tax on blank CD’s? Who’s the music industry to say that people are using CD’s to only back/burn music cd’s? What about the people who buy blanks to actually backup their data?

Thats why you need to buy CD-R That says DATA on it!! DONT BUY THE ONES THAT Say music!!!. They are higher price for a reason cause money goes to the RIAA.
