Microsoft has said it is working to close a breach of its technology that protects music digital files from copyright infringement.

A program called Fairuse4wm has been posted on the net and is said to be capable of bypassing Microsoft’s Digital Rights Management (DRM) system.

It could spell problems for internet music shops, potentially enabling users to download unlimited files.

Microsoft said it hoped to deploy an update to fix the problem soon.

deploy an updated fix for who? The Reseller or the customer? If it’s for the customer then who in their right mind would install the update/fix?

they’ll push it to everyone as a “critical” update to Windows like Genuine Notifications.

i assume this is for vista? why the hell didnt they wait for it to be released before they start doing stuff like this. MS is going to fix “bugs” like this while its still in development

lol reminds me of the funniest message present in windows update chich went along the lines of:

‘windows genuine advantage tool will identify if your copy of windows is genuine and help you obtain a genuine one of not’

    lol!

vista is going to be loaded up the a$$ w/copy protection. they are prob goign to push a more secure encryption then “require” users for thoes websites to use the new encryption to continue their service (download and install more m$ software)

    Aha!
First it was “Oh man we’d better make DRM to protect our hojillions in intellectual properties!”

Now it’s “Aww shit they hack our DRM. Why didn’t we just leave them alone in the first place?”
