Add another competitor in the battle for dominance of the digital download market.
AOL, in its quest to stem a long tide of lost subscribers, has decided to add it’s music subscription service “Music Now” to the growing list of AOL features offered to non- subscribers.
Starting today, “outsiders” can pay $10 to $15 a month to gain full access to AOL Music Now. It’s AOL Radio with XM Satellite Radio Service is also available for $4.95 a month.
Music Now offers audio and video streaming, programmed radio and downloads that can be transferred to compatible digital media players.
This opening up of AOL comes on the heels of 2 other major announcements from AOL. The first was the offering of free-mail and other web services and AOL content. In second was it’s plane to begin offering movie downloads from Twentieth Century Fox, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Universal Pictures and Warner Bro’s. Home Entertainment Group for $9.99 to $19.99 per movie.
