The Australian Broadcasting Corporation, or ABC, has just dipped into music downloads. According to a recent article in Digital Webcast, the broadcaster has tapped destaMusic.com to power downloads for various ABC properties, including ABC Shop, Triple J and ABC Classic FM.

“The ABC will be Australia’s first broadcaster to align an online digital music download store with their national radio and television programming,” commented destra CEO Domenic Carosa. “Listeners will potentially be able to purchase a song immediately upon hearing it on-air.” The Australian Broadcasting Corporation is a massive, government-run media group, with tentacles in radio, television, and the internet.
