Woman caught with camcorder in cinema (pirating anti-piracy trailer)

The New Zealand Federation Against Copyright (NZFACT) said today staff at a Hoyts cinema reported seeing a woman allegedly recording a movie trailer – which just happened to be an anti-piracy message – ahead of the screening of the smash hit animated film Cars.

NZFACT executive director Tony Eaton said staff members contacted management and the woman, who was sitting with her family, was approached and her camcorder seized.

Mr Eaton said he believed that the woman was planning to record the film for piracy purposes.

He said movie pirates made thousands of dollars a week selling DVD copies at markets stalls.

then there are the people like me that also hate cam downloads but feel a ton less alienated by the poor qualtiy than driving down to the theatre and dealing with all their shit

***Sighs*** It’s so sad…. Why do people have to try to record movies? Personally I’ll either go see it at the theatre or rent the DVD. I just think pirating movies with camcorders is a waste ‘cuz the quality will never be even close to as good as the original or the DVD.
