Crockett and Tubbs — the crime fighting duo of “Miami Vice” — woulda been proud.
West suburban police busted a Chicago man at a midnight showing of the new film “Miami Vice” as he allegedly tried to film the flick with a camcorder.
“We never had one like this before,” said a spokeswoman for the Lombard police, which arrested the man early Friday after police said he was caught with a Sony Handycam mounted on a tripod at the AMC Yorktown 18 theaters.
Hollywood industry sources say camcorders are used in 90 percent of the newly released movies that end up on the Internet and on black market DVDs.

Congress really should ban camcorders. We can’t have our great American film industry pillaged like this. People claim they use them to record their children and family but we really know they use them to steal movies.
Someday people might even use camcorders to make movies. What would happen to the movie industry then?
upholding the law or not busting people all day for speeding and dealing drugs only to end your evening by busting a guy with a camcorder would be such a anti-climatic ending for the night.
