I dont fault them for making money, but making money while representing different "political" motives is just tricking people.. I don't expect this to hurt their cashflow at all, but will make them a larger target for the RIAA/MPAA and competitors

I do fault them for making money. $84000 in USD, in 4 months? There isn't enough money to go around! Anyone who makes that much money and doesn't give it away is in some way causing someone in the world to starve to death. I'm all for rewarding people for a job well done, but that much money is too much! Just because the RIAA pulls in a million dollars a month or whatever, doesn't mean that it's a good thing the Pirate Bay is sucking that much money out of the economy. A squirrelfox can't even pay rent, and they pull in $84,000. Are they 84,000 times more worthy to live than me? Do you really think so?

Wow teto, I've never heard such socialist bullshit before. You must live in one of those liberal european countries where it's a sin to have money and the goverment supports everybody.

teto is right in the fact they should share it. bram cohen does deserve some money for what he has done for us. making that much money from piracy is just as bad as selling bootlegs for a profit. they only difference is they really arent breaking any laws while doing it.
If I create a business (selling software or running a site) and it starts making 1,000,000 a month..I deserve that money (as long as I am not scewing anyone out of money or committing any crime).
The guys over at thepiratebay are providing a great service. I have been able to find almost any bittorent file there. Also, they have to pay for bandwidth..are you willing to split the cost of the bandwidth with them as well? (I would imagine it is > $10,000 per month)...I didn't think so.
Bram Cohen created bittorrent..but he DOES NOT DESEVE ANY MONEY FROM THEPIRATEBAY. That's as rediculous as saying that Microsoft Deserves Money from a company that makes money using a word document or excel spreadsheet. Bram just happened to be the one that didn't get completly destroyed after the RIAA went after all of the programmers of various P2P apps. I have been coming to zeropaid since the opennap days (anyone remember opennap)? How about audiognome...or Filenavigator? All Programs that pre-dates Bittorrent by at least 4 years and had better technology and or functionality.

Laws are laws and I follow some of them if I agree with them, if not I follow them only when I have too.
Pirate Bay has done an excellent job creating a successful business model and I particularly like their shifty money handling and Tax avoidance. Why pay more taxes when you don't have too. Keep in mind they really are Pirates its not just name. I only wish two things. #1 I wish I lived in Sweden and thought this. #2 Use some of the money to improve the shitty search function and page lag time.

the problem with the MS/word analogy is that MS charges a shitton for word and bram made BT free and open source. the idea when you buy office is that its a business investement and that is why they charge you so much. because you will be making money off of the program. the problem wtih PB is that they are equating themselves with real pirates because they are making money off of filesharing. would any of you say it was ok for them to offer burnt CDs of stuff for a substantal profit, even if that profit is 1/8 what they are making now? my point is, they are making more than just a living off of filesharing. but because they arent actullally burning the disks, they arent crossing any of your lines. that is why i think they need to share it, not with me, not with the industry or necessarly bram cohen. but they damn well had better help out the file sharers that get sued for doing less than they are.

Why exactly should the Pirate Bay guys be giving their money to other torrent sites that are getting sued? They’re obviously capitalists and they’re doing what good capitalists do. They’re making money because they’re smarter than everyone else out there and I don’t see why they should give that money back or refuse to sells ads. A better search function would be nice though.

simple.
I personally use Ad Muncher and I don't see a single ad on any site
I've added a couple of exclude entries so I can choose which sites I support.
zeropaid.com is one of them.

This is the proverbial "no brainer" ;)
