A Texas woman has filed a $30m lawsuit against MySpace.com after her 14-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted by someone she met through the site.
The suit alleges that MySpace does not do enough to protect its under-age users, according to a report in the Austin American Statesman, and includes news reports of other sexual assaults that took place after people met on the MySpace network.
The lawyer representing the family, Adam Loewy, told the newspaper: “MySpace is more concerned about making money than protecting children online.”
“We feel that one per cent of that is the bare minimum, that they should compensate the girl for their failure to protect her online when they knew sexual predators were on that site,” he said.

How about you keep track of what your 14 year old is doing online maybe we should ban typing that way no one can do this or how about writing maybe speaking as well that way even fewer kids will get assaulted.
Lazy parents are always blaming someone else for things their kids do or when they get hurt its an easy way to make money or pass the buck.
I know it’s sad to see our country slide towards a culture where nobody’s responsible for their actions anymore………reminds me of how people are trying to sue fast food joints like McDonalds for selling them products that make them obese.
This is just moronic. The parents must be some lazy bunch of gits if they taught the girl the right things this wouldn’t have happened. Blaming Myspace for their own ignorance is just pathetic “FREE MO0L4!!!!!111!1″ Ugh.
