Do we really need FastTrack/Sharman Networks ? (Open Source Fast Track Protocol)

Q: I noticed that you say on your website you are developing a FastTrack like network, and I would really love to hear from you if you make any progress in understanding the protocol, if there will be a windows version available (and on what term do you expect it to be released). I think your project is an exciting step for future file sharing software and hope you will be able to make as successful software as the current FastTrack based software is.

A: We have mostly salvaged all of the design information from the FastTrack network months ago and have given up on mucking with their constantly changing encryption algorithms, this is of course the reason for starting OpenFT’s development several months ago.

Regarding a Windows client, it’s really up to the community at this point. the giFT core (daemon) ports to Windows natively at present, all we need now is a developer who is willing to create a native MFC GUI to interface with the
daemon running in the system tray.
