im rooting for HDDVD personally but i heard that the porn industry is siding with HD also. and every new format the porners take on wins.

In the VHS vs Betamax format war VHS won because it was cheaper had larger storage capacity and had far more movie studio and hardware manufacturer support.

This time round Blu-ray is more expensive but has a ready made market in the form of PS3 buyers has larger storage capacity and has far more movie studio and hardware manufacturer support.

I predict that Blu-ray will against HD-DVD but will lose against the already existing DVD format. Blu-ray and HD-DVD will likely become the new SACD/DVD-A (an exclusive club for people who can afford the expensive hardware)

Unless these companies artificially slash the prices to match dvd player/disc prices the true successor to the DVD format will be some kind of downloadable DRM infested HD movie file.

blue ray is supported by about every technology company out there. hd dvd is supported by microsoft toshiba and about 2 hollywood companies. im rooting for blue-ray. hd-dvd will be ruined by microsoft with copy protection BS.

I really don’t care. This may be the biggest build-up to the biggest let down I’ve ever seen. HD is cool but it really isn’t that cool. I have a 42 ” (maybe 43 ” I don’t remember) wide-screen HD. Comcast charges me $5.00 a month extra for HD programming and I can barely tell the difference between a DVD and HD programming.

Blue-ray vs. HD-DVD. Whichever player falls bellow $100 first is the player I’ll buy.

How much can I put on one disc and how fast and at what costt is the only questions I have.

I’m more excited about Holographic storage. I don’t care about Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. Both are DRM encumbered so the only excitment to me would be the largest storage possible or some new mind shattering technology. Holographic beats them on both fronts for me. Someone come out with a player/burner that supports both to get this worthless “war” over with.

blue ray will be ruined by sony copy protection BS remember the rootkit? WOW its SOOOOO much bigger? guess what they will put in it ocpoy protections! and chances are a blue ray burner isnt going to be coming out anytime soon… sony does not ant burners to ever come out for blueray (and i think MS wants the same for HDDVD) since w/burners u can copy the disks…
