I hope he takes it to a court and the MPAA’s claims are defeated! That would be a Major victory for all the people that have been issued lawsuits. Mabye it would encourage them to fight back!

Something tells me by that interview that the MPAA has just bit off more than it can chew….before long they may realize that they made a mistake suing this guy! Because he sounds as though he is ready to fight this to the end….something I don’t think the MPAA was counting on!

Mabye this will give them the bloody nose they have so long needed and deserve.

I hope he & the women in Oregon win their cases so lawyers can see this has all the class action lawsuit potential for past victims! For once **AAs could be on the receiving end.

DVD came out April 19th. I say hes lieing about it. Movie hit the net 3-28 Between those times he may have downloaded the movie from torrentspy since it was big at that time they got his IP address.. Then they filed a complaint which took time for a judge to sign and allow information to go from his ISP account to the MPAA headquarters where then the ISP sent him a letter saying they request to look up your information. At that time the movie hit the streets and at that time it was no big deal go out and buy it. Im suprised no cease and desist letter was sent and that is an earlier time to start lawsuits for the movie industry. Settling would admit guilt.

Yah but to be able settle for only 500 bucks if you knew you were guilty and not accept it is pretty dam ballsy……..he’s either really innocent or really stupid I give him the benefit of the doubt and say he’s innocent thus “right on” for not settling.

its about time.
if every one of the 20000 people would have gone to a full trial the whole blind charges sytem wouldnt be cost effective.

the mpaa cant trail 20000 cases for about a year and a half wait each.
it will consume all thier time and money.

you have no idea what the law realy thinks about downoading it has never been tried.

mybe if the judge finds you guilty he will fine you 50 bucks? if you get drunk and hit somone you get less then 500$.

i think for shawn its about the principle. he knows he is innocent and refuses to sign something saying he is guilty. He has the resources and the time to fight it and we should be glad he is.

Amen Dubeddy Dub Dub always nice to hear about somebody standing up for their principles. In addition we should all be cheering this guy on because it could happen to each and all of us next. If nobody stands up to be heard then will anyone really care when your the one in the crosshairs. VIva Shawn!

Uh yah “comment #7″ copyright infringment is gonna be less than 500 bucks let alone 50? What’s the GDP of the country your from? Have YOU ever looked it up? If not the next time you pop in a DVD at home read the FBI warning where it says like 50000 bucks a pop for each infraction. When was the last time anybody showed up at court for an infraction that carriers a fine of less than a few grand at the very least? All else is MAIL-IN pretty much. You dont think all the judges or the lawyers time is worth 50 bucks do you?
