PeerFactor released today a new service allowing to share files with friends.

It is based on their grid network based on their volunteer community.

You only need to upload files to the central servers and get a link to share with your friends by email.
If the files are donwloaded a lot, a mini-P2P (69ko) client is used.
If the files are downloaded only few times, file are delivered by http in you browser.

To encrypt data transfer, you need to encrypt your files yourself before uploading.
Number of transfers and size file are unlimited.

5 other companies are about to launch products to share files between friends (most of them with bittorrent and by email) :

I’m really looking forward to Allpeers created for use with mozilla products… It has to be good anything thats open source always turns out well… Consumers just need to realise this for themselves rather then paying attention to bus stop advertising and billboards accross the world. Then maybe Microsoft wouldn’t be the largest corperation in the world.

I hope to see great things from the crew at Allpeers.
