German police lock up AND sue eDonkey file sharers

German police have filed criminal charges against more than 2,000 people accused of using the eDonkey file-sharing network to share copyrighted music illegally, the recording industry’s trade group said Tuesday.

The legal action, which will also include claims for compensation under civil law, is “the biggest single action against illegal file sharing,” according to the London-based International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).

The US is putting downloaders in jail? I know that they are going after the “Heavy Pirates” who run servers.
