RIAA Accuses President Bush of Piracy

In a recent article posted on Real Tech News, the MPAA and RIAA have stated in a 54-page DMCA review that the copying of one’s legally purchased CD is illegal, as well as the ‘ripping’ of a CD to an MP3 Player. The Industry’s DMCA review leaves absolutely no room for fair use.

As we all know the MPAA/RIAA are incorrect in such statements and despite what they think, fair use exists and people are actively exercising those rightsts.

But, since the Entertainment Industry asserts that it’s illegal to rip songs from CD to mp3 players, they are accusing anyone who does such activity as piracy.

And it just so happens that President Bush, indeed, has ripped his Beatles CDs to play the songs on his iPod. And thus, by default, accuses him too of illegal duplication of their copyrighted music, in short; piracy.

  6. black_magiic

Ok in all honesty this could be one of the worst and most misleading article titles I have seen in my entire life.

  7. DigitalJunkie

So what does MPAA/RIAA going to do about this? File a lawsuit against the President so they can collect on legal blackmail & have their lobbyists politicians DOJ running for cover? That would be funny to see!!

  8. riaasuckz

yea the title is misleading but in essence that is what the RIAA is doing. if they accuse anyone ripping music to ipods a pirate then they accuse president bush as a pirate.

i went to thepiratetimes and he actually got the story from that other site the author mentioned……. he just rewrote it.

“And it just so happens that President Bush indeed has ripped his Beatles CDs to play the songs on his iPod”

How do you know he had them ripped from a CD couldn’t he bought them from a download site?

  10. AbrahamBeard

    Nah Bush can’t spell www.

  11. Burd

Only one question: Is this an impeachable offense?

  12. deshman

is this just another filler article to keep the hits high??

  13. meyou123

It would be funny if Bush got sued for what the industry callls “stealing”! Mabye then the RIAA would finally get its head handed to them on a platter!

I would laugh my head off but not even the RIAA is stupid enough to make that mistake….but on the other hand if they will sue dead people people who can’t use computers and 14 year old girls…then whgy not the president of the U.S.?

  14. riaasuckz

He did rip the audio cds. If you haven’t kept up with the news supposively Beatles tunes are unavailable on iTunes or atleast the select ones he ripped. If you go to the source of the article at thepiratetimes and then click their source the article was based off it explains it.

  15. meyou123

@riaasuckz….I am not saying he DIDN’t rip the audio CD’s! Why areyou acting like I doubt it? But I am saying that it would be funny if he DID get sued by the RIAA and mabye then people could see the stupidity of all these lawsuits by the RIAA! I also think it would bring attention to their stupid lawsuits that they really don’t want. But I still would not put it past them.

Oakenfold’s 1999 Ibiza mix: zero dollars O-Zone’s Numa Numa(virus included): zero dollars songs from Duran Duran Billy Idol Barenaked Ladies Eiffel 65 Groove Armada and Frank Sinatra: zero dollars watching President Bush get accused of piracy by putting songs onto his ipod: priceless…

  18. riaasuckz

@meyou123 — I was not directing that response towards you I don’t even know how it would have pertained to your post.

My response was direct to jona100 since that person was the one who said about it being downloaded tunes possibly.

Either way the RIAA are idiots I think we can all agree on that.

  19. mp3master1215

dude if he ripped a bought cd then how is he pirating?

  20. riaasuckz

that is the entire point of the article if you bothered to read it. the MPAA/RIAA stated in their DMCA review that it is illegal to rip music from legally purchased CDs despite fairuse rights for consumers. President Bush himself has utilized these fairuse rights and therefore has committed piracy in the twisted view of the RIAA.

  21. zpman

did he buy a cd or just steal it from the Internet like the rest of you who call HIM a hypocrite? Think about it….

  22. Leung Kwok-hung

If Osama had crashed airplanes into the RIAA headquarters rather than into the Twin Towers he’d be a saint.

  23. zpman

Leung Kwok-hung you are a sick fuck and an enemy of America for advocating terrorism. You make me sick.

The RIAA may not be such a great thing for their over-reaching however to suggest that bin Laden would be a saint under any circumstance is beyond kooky and unhinged. I loathe this statement you have made and wish YOU nothing but pain and suffering for the rest of your life. I curse you.
