If indexing sites are found to be infringing copyright how much further back can it go? As TPB says if hosting torrent files becomes illegal they will li<x>nk to torrent files if li<x>nking to them becomes illegal they will li<x>nk to a li<x>nk it just goes on and on. Eventually the RIAA should sue itself for releasing content that is copyrighted in the knowledge that it will be pirated.

Good point cmdrpaddy. Wouldn't this be the same as if Google was being sued for the content that was acquired by its users? A seach engine is just that. It's not responsible for making available adult material to minors. The individual sites are. But the ending paragraph of the story also brings up a good point the search enging torrentspy is geared toward a specific function: finding torrentfiles. As far as I understand torrentfiles are not illegal. Rather what is shared is the focus of controversy. To block this technology is certainly hindering progression. The MPAA as well as RIAA just need some one to blame. This has turned into a political opportunity for these organizations and by the time every one figures out their scheme the damage will already have been done.

I hope this is struck down HARD by the courts. This is just crazy! If they are allowed to get away with suing search engines where will it end? I wish Torrentspy luck in getting this dismissed.
