Well, the RIAA is at it again, this time with their crosshairs aimed into a different direction. Who will the killing machine decide to go after next you may ask Webcasting.
The RIAA now wants to affix a pay-per-rate for songs on Internet Radio although traditional broadcasts over FM, AM, and any other form of signal modulated radio have never had such a policy.
The best case scenario for if this legislation passed would be that the RIAA would receive royalties that would more than likely never reach the artist, as has been the case for years. In a worst case scenario the Webcasting industry would die out all together.
With Webcasting gone, the consumer’s only choice for high-quality commercial free radio would be to purchase an expensive satellite radio system, or to pay fees for corporate Webcasting stations that have deep pockets already.
