The open source source nature of Firefox that lets developers everywhere extend Firefox's core capabilities has led to an interesting new creation.

Called "Allpeers," its a P2P browser advertised as "...a free extension which combines the strength of Firefox and the efficiency of BitTorrent to transform your favorite browser into a media sharing powerhouse."

It's touted to include a complete Bit Torrent Client that you can use inside Firefox, making it possible to combine the navigating and acquiring functions necessary to transfer media quickly and efficiently.

It also advertises ease of use, noting that "If you know how to use Firefox you know how to use AllPeers." And the screenshots suggest that, appearing to be as simple as selecting a sidebar to view and thus enabling the media sharing functions of the Allpeers program

Divx Networks came out with a similar and also wonderful product some time ago called Project Neon, but if Allpeers is able to combine a browser with the same media sharing capabilities it could prove tough to beat.

Although Allpeers is unfortunately still in beta testing, it does provide for a mailing list so that you can be updated via e-mail and be keep abreast of its progress.
