I recently got a hold of the creator of the Qube “Ben” and had time to do a short interview with him. Grab the Qube Here! He was very gracious with his time so please give his software a shot, read why its so great! And as always please post feedback!

Zeropaid: The basic question to start us off, what makes The Qube superior to other P2P clients?
Ben: Swarmed downloading and searching, complete decentralization, built in host cache, rich text instant messaging and buddy list, SHOUTCast client, built in skin feature, and it looks COOL

Zeropaid: Many new users are complaining of lack of connections, search results, ect. Why?
Ben: Well it is a brand-new network, so not very many people are on it yet.
Zeropaid: With its new decentralized nature do you predict the The Qube could grow huge in terms of scalability?
Ben: Yes I do, here’s why. Each user can connect to the maximum of 40,000 people, and you can search over 1 billion people at once. Well if that many people had computers :-D
Zeropaid: Will you ever release the source code?
Ben: I’m considering releasing some protocol documentation, as you can see if you’ve used the client… in the search results and the transfer status window it shows the client that the other user is using, so other clients could be added in the future.
Zeropaid: Opinions towards “spyware”.
Ben: I hate spyware and I never plan to use it. It fools novice computer users, for they don’t know what it is when they install the program.
Zeropaid: What does the Qube mean to you, do you ever plan on profiting of the Qube?
Ben:I hope to profit from registered users (people can pay a certain amount to be rid of the advertisements in the programs) and also from paid advertising inside the program and possibly popups (not ones that will crash the program like morpheus though)
Zeropaid: Is the Qube secure, is it ok to share my millions of MP3’s?

Ben: The Qube is perfectly secure. The transfers are direct peer to peer, which is very secure and fast, for you aren’t sending, receiving, or handing off your data to others.
Zeropaid: What’s your opinion on music subscription services. Do they stand a chance while networks such as gnutellaNet and WinMX exist?
Ben: I think we should wait and see because even though many people prefer the free alternative, others might feel more secure on something that is legal.
Zeropaid: What client besides you own is you favorite filesharing program?
Ben: I enjoy Morpheus because of it’s high amount of media, but if I were to choose which one I liked the best I would prefer LimeWire (’cause it looks cool).
Zeropaid: What features do you see being added to the Qube in the future?
Ben:In the future I will be adding a chat room (for the next beta) and I hope to have it save the files you were downloading when you exit so that you can easily resume them when the program is relaunched (I have left the ability to do this even when downloading from older clients).
Zeropaid: Will it ever be possible for The Qube to connect to other networks in the P2P world?
Ben: The new The Qube was originally designed to connect to GNutella, but I later removed it because I felt GNutella was unreliable and confusing. I am looking into adding OpenNap support, but that is not a promise.
Zeropaid: Much thanks for you cooperation, anything left to say?
Ben: Give The Qube a chance. Leave it running sharing a few files on your computer. Patriots rule!
