According to this article research firm Fulcrum Global Partners is predicting that 10 million iPods will be sold this holiday season and another research firm, Piper Jaffray, says that one third of them will be sold to consumers either replacing an older iPod or buying a second or third one. Piper also says that there is a growing market for used iPods, one that may eclipse the single digit sales of new players by iPod competitors. According to NPD Group, last September Sandisk was second in DAP sales with 4.7% of the market, HP third with 2.8%, iRiver with 2.6% and Creative with 2.3%. Apple now holds 75.7% of the new player market.
