It didn’t take long, but the new owners of KaZaA, Sharman Networks, is already a focal point of Australian copyright authorities.
KaZaA’s life in the P2P world has been a roller coaster ride of uncertainty. Adding to the KaZaA drama, reports coming in suggest that “The Australian Performing Right Association Limited (APRA), which monitors that country’s copyrights for musicians has begun to investigate Sharman. The organization wants to make sure that the new entity is not infringing on copyrights, according to “Australian IT”, a networking Web site from that country.”
Although this seems to be less severe than the situation KaAaA faced in the Netherlands, it’s worthy of keeping an eye on.
