The next generation of link sites

eDonkey has just introduced an awesome new feature that replaces the need for link sites.

Now you can create web pages and publish them on the eDonkey network. This means they will be nearly impossible to take down as long as people are interested in them. They call the feature catalogs. Catalogs can be downloaded and traded just like any other file. They contain any kind of web content and can have ed2k links, bittorrent links or any other kind of links. They can even link to other online content. The catalogs are digitally signed by the publisher so you can be sure that what you are downloading and seeing was what the publisher originally intended. When you search, eDonkey will tell you if a catalog was signed correctly by the publisher it claims to be from. The catalogs are also dated so you can browse the latest releases of that week or day.

This is a huge step forward for p2p. It eliminates the weakness of needing a centralized place to verify if files are quality or not. No longer do you have to worry about your favorite link site going down or being offline. The verified files are now just as easy to get as any other file on the network.
