WinMX v3.0 Beta Released for Testing

Early this morning WinMX v3.0 was released to the public, new features include: New Interface, Multi-Source Downloading and New Network Architecture.

WinMX users cannot donwload from multiple sources on the OpenNap Network only on the WinMX peer network. If you’re having problems connecting to the OpenNap network while using WinMX v3.0, try adding several OpenNap severs. A listing of active OpenNap servers can be found here.

From website:

Today starts the first beta test of WinMX v3.0.

This new version of WinMX is based on a completely new architecture which has not been widely tested. There are many new features, and many new places for things to go wrong. Because of this, we anticipate there may be minor or perhaps major issues with the software, and we may be releasing newer revisions for beta testing on an hourly basis. As with all our software, you use it at your own risk. If you are uncomfortable with this, please be patient and wait a few days for us to finish testing and release a final version 3.0 to the public.

Currently, we are aware of the following issues:

- Occasional crashing on user disconnect from WinMX Peer Network on program startup
- Some minor file transfer related issues
- WinMX Peer Net connection acquisition not thoroughly tested, may prevent connection to network in some circumstances
- Windows XP may have compatibility issues which we are currently working on
