Downhill Battle to sponsor ‘Save Betamax’

Spearheaded by anti-music industry group Downhill Battle, thousands are calling their local representatives in opposition to the “Induce Act”, as part of the “Save Betamax” campaign. The Induce Act, proposed by Senator Orrin Hatch, would hold technology companies liable for making products that “encourage” customers to infringe copyright. Opponents argue that the landmark Betamax decision – the ruling that kept Betamax/VHS VCR’s legal despite some illegal uses – legally protects p2p networks.
