Dust off that old Piolet client, as a new round of betas has hit the scene.

Much like WinMX’s disappearing/reappearing act, Piolet has gone a considerable amount of time without much public activity. Fortunately, Pablo Soto, the lead programmer of Piolet, has remained active with some limited distribution of his client. After a lengthy testing process, Piolet is now ready for the public.
Piolet is part of the Manolito P2P network, which is owned by Opisoft. The three clients that connect to this consortium are Blubster, Piolet and RockItNet. Initially, Blubster was the only client that existed, however internal problems in Optisoft at the time resulted in Pablo’s resignation.
After his departure, Pablo then went on to create Piolet. Over time, the internal problems at Optisoft were resolved and Piolet and Blubster were joined under the same flag. RockItNet was later started as a commercial venture, however little has changed on its homepage since it was released over a year ago.
At it height, the Manolito P2P network was widely regarded as a high quality P2P network. Futhermore, many believed that with its rapidly expanding population, it had a shot at toppling the FastTrack network. However, much like WinMX, its stagnation caused many to become disillusioned with the Manolito community and started looking for alternative networks.
Despite its stagnant population, the Manolito network still has enough internal strength to pull itself back together. With solid community backing and Pablo keeping his population well informed, the Manolito P2P network has the ingredients necessary to once again become a premiere P2P network.
