File Sharing Grows, But Slowly

Legal action against file sharers did little to reduce the amount of trading. Most of the files are copyrighted songs and movies which makes the trade illegal.

According to study by Sandvine, a network monitoring company in Ontario, there’s been no decline in file-sharing. File-sharing in Europe has not dropped, but there’s a 5% drop from 70% to 65% in the US over last year.

Sandvine said US file-traders use eDonkey more than Kazaa now. It is to be believed that because the RIAA only sued people who are using KaZaa. Sandvine use the “deep packet analysis” to identify whether the packets is part a file-sharing transfer.
