The BPI are playing down Tuesday’s statement made by the IFPI that lawsuits in the UK are inevitable.
“We are prepared to go down the legal route if needed – and we will,” Matt Phillips, BPI spokesman, told Slyck News.
So far, the BPI has stood on neutral ground when asked about lawsuits against individuals downloading music. According to previous statements made to the press, the BPI want to continue to monitor file sharing activity and the influence of their continuing education campaign. Lawsuits have always been a backup plan. Despite the announcements made by the IFPI, Phillips assured Slyck that, “nothing has changed.”
