The summer digital music season has officially kicked off with Heineken USA and RealNetworks teaming up to deliver free music downloads (where legal). Beginning May 1, every specially marked 12-pack of Heineken will include a unique code redeemable for two free music downloads from RealNetworks’ RealPlayer Music Store. The Heineken USA/RealNetworks relationship marks the first major sponsorship of a digital music service by the nation’s largest beer importer. Demographically, with over 85% of their consumer base 21 years of age or older, RealNetworks was also the right fit for Heineken.
Consumers can redeem their free downloads through the RealPlayer Music Store, which is integrated into RealPlayer 10, the latest media player from RealNetworks. RealPlayer 10 makes it easy for digital music fans to find, play and manage all the digital media on the Web — including the ability to play content in every major audio and video format. The RealPlayer Music Store features more than 520,000 songs in the highest quality of any download store: 192 kbps RealAudio® with AAC. The store is part of RealPlayer 10, which is available for free download at http://www.real.com.
Heineken USA Inc., the nation’s largest beer importer, is a subsidiary of Heineken N.V. (Netherlands), which is the world’s most international brewer. Brands imported into the U.S. include: Heineken Lager, the world’s most international beer brand; Heineken Special Dark; Amstel Light, the largest-selling imported light beer brand; and Buckler non-alcoholic brew.
