G-Newsgroups version 0.4 Beta

http://www.gnewsgroups.com/GnewsInstaller.exe

Please pass this around to everyone you know, but keep in mind this is still early in development .

Once you install, let it run for at least 10 min… this way you’ll get all the groups that are currently circulating.  Feel free to post to any group.  All group requests should be posted to gnews.group-requests.  After you post a message, you should keep Gnewsgroups running for a while to make sure other hosts have downloaded your new
message.  I’ll add a status message in the future so you know when you’re messages have been uploaded a few times.

This release has many known issues.  Here’s a few to watch out for:

   -          Posting large attachments (greater than 10MB or so) sometimes causes a crash, so I advise against it.

   -          Switching views to different groups sometimes causes a crash… not much you can do to avoid this for now.  I’ll fix it in next release.

   -          Can’t open attachments with unknown file types.  Fix coming soon.

That’s the big ones that I can think of now.

Please post a message in the gnews.test group if you have successfully installed the software!

 Thanks, Fred
