Software automatically fixes MP3 tags

FixTunes (http://www.fixtunes.com) just came out this weekend.   It is a software program that scans your music library and automatically downloads the correct artist, album, title, track, genre and year information – cleaning up your entire collection (and making it a whole lot easier to browse on your new iPod).

FixTunes works by connecting to a database of over 3 million tracks and determining the best match with a particular song on your computer.  Because FixTunes downloads portions of the database to handle processing on your PC, individual track information is not sent to the server.  So no one (not even FixTunes) has information on what songs you have.

This program isn’t like the other “taggers” that make you type in all the original information.  Everything is automated.  You tell it to start, go watch a movie, come back, and everything is done.  Pretty cool.
