A Talk With the WASTE Project Manager

The state of WASTE
——————
Where we are going, where we want to go, how we are starting out
==================

Let me start off by saying that these latest alphas are NOT meant to be major
version changes, thus the ALPHA tag. These are merely minor version changes
as well as the fixing of bugs. The complaints of some users have no basis, as
these are NOT intended as major updates, they would be called FINAL if they were.

With WASTE, our current focus is user experience. It’s interface is complicated for
someone new, as well as hard to use. There is limited documentation, and the
documentation that is their is sometimes poorly written. We are working on getting new
documentation as well as vastly improving the interface, with a sort of option between
“expierenced / classic” interface, and “new / simple” interface for those with little
expierience with the program.

As we move on we will then attempt to advance the protocol, taking in the suggestions
posted on sourceforge.net or e-mailed to us. At first, we will keep the protocol
compatible with the older versions, with the older versions ignoring new abilities in
the protocol. Then, in a major version change, the protocol will stem off to an advanced
more secure protocol version, WASTE 2.

As we work with the interface fixes, we will continue to develop ideas as to where we can
go with the WASTE protocol. The versions we are releasing right now are merely an
experimental prelude to what is comming next.

We will fix all the complaints and strange bugs as well as insecurities in the protocol.
It is just a matter of time. I have been the new project manager of WASTE for only 1
month. It takes more time than that to generate new revolutions in the program.
