Bitcollider is a tool for identifying local files by hash, looking up files at the Bitzi community catalog website, and adding file details to the catalog when they are not already present. The Bitcollider calculates all hashes used by top P2P systems in a single file pass, and extracts descriptive fields from popular audio, video, and image file formats. Version 0.6.0 has just been released, and adds:

  • Calculation of the ‘KZHASH’ identifiers introduced by Kazaa 2.6 and used by Kazaa’s magnet link support
  • Extraction of video framerate, framesize, duration, bitrate, and codec from most AVI, MPEG1, MPEG2, and QuickTime videos
  • Buildability on Mac OS X as a command-line tool
  • Other fixes and tweaks
As always, the Bitcollider source code is released into the public domain to allow the widest possible community reuse.
