Early this weekend, Winamp.com released their second beta version of, new and improved Winamp 3, officially beginning the battle between Winamp 3 and Winamp 2.xx begins. Winamp 3 has a database integrated into the player which can sort all the music on your hard drive into categories, years, or even by your comments in the iD3 file tag of your mp3s. It also packs a new interface, with new skins, that are anything but normal, and destroy the old Winamp status quo. Winamp 3 includes many of the plug-ins that you can download for Winamp 2 already pre-installed for you. Sounds great doesn’t it? well here are the strings. Winamp 3 is loaded with bugs, that’s why it is still in beta developing. It also leaves a lot to be desired in the customization field. As of now, you cannot change the visualization bars, or save an equalizer preset that you enjoy. right now my vote would go to Winamp 2.78, (Newly released this weekend in addition to Winamp 3) and take the time to download the plug-ins that function the same for Winamp 2.xx as it will with Winamp 3. But just wait until Winamp 3 is finished. Look out Jukebox lovers.
