There’s a whole raft of stuff out there which depends 100% on technology. It sounds like sh*t without it.
Then you have live performance recordings. With them, you sense the atmosphere, you know the groups and/or individuals you’re listening to are REAL (bum notes and all : ) and there’s ambience instead of the sterile, engineered sounds presented by studio-made CDs. In short, recordings produced when bands and performers are out there sharing their art with live audiences are essential components for good music. Or is that a truism? heh
That’s not to say all studio-made CDs are worthless. (Well, actually, they are if they come from any of the RIAA labels). But you know what I mean.
So are you lined up with the Dead, Phish, String Cheese Incident, Widespread Panic, Phil Lesh and Friends, Dave Matthews Band and others? That’s to ask: do you and/or your band allow the non-commercial taping and trading of your live performances?
If you do, you’re in the excellent company of the Dead, et al, and would therefore be welcomed with open arms on Furthur Network, a very cool 100% non-commercial site dedicated to allowing and promoting the online sharing of legal live music.

Furthur Network and the linked app FurthurNet represent the true soul of p2p.
The whole deal is, it almost goes without saying, open-source and the software, currently in beta and being developed and supported at the etree.org and sugarmegs.org music sharing communities, is there for the free downloading.
