Version 2.3 was released today (September 06, 2003) in order to support the security upgrade to the MSN protocol. The upgrade uses SSL, a more secure and widely accepted password authorization method than the previous MD5 hash, through its passport service.
Microsoft has announced that they will only support this newer protocol after October 15, 2003. All older MSN Messengers and third party messengers including Easy Message 2.2 and below will not be able to connect to the MSN messenger service after this date.
