The primary changes include using even more connections between Ultrapeers (now 32) and a lower “time to live” (TTL) for outgoing searches (the number of hops the search will propagate on the network). This version also uses better dynamic querying of the network and includes the server side of using compression for all network traffic. In our initial tests, using compression has reduced bandwidth consumption by about 50%, but we’re releasing the server side only for now to make sure it’s working as we expect.

This version also includes a number of bug fixes over 2.9.8.
