OGG-S, an open source DRM toolkit, is now in beta. OGG-S is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) and uses OpenSSL for encryption. The OGG-S website states, “Because of its open nature, OGG Vorbis will be the first format to be protected by this initiative.” Unlike other DRM solutions (Dolby AAC and Microsoft WMDRM), OGG-S is free to use and modify, has an open specification, public documentation, content-specific encryption, and Mac/Unix support.
