The Dutch firm known as PGR BV is developing a file-sharing service entitled “The Honest Thief”, which will introduce a system designed to compensate artists. The money would be raised from a piece of software called Thank You 2.0, “enabling file-sharing providers to capitalize on the unused computing power of their members.”
According to the founder of PGR BV, Pieter Plass, the record industry responded with an attitude that was “quite hostile”.
PGR BV is based in the Netherlands, where KaZaA was ruled to be legal. The company hopes to “start up… services in the Netherlands.”
