Labels warn on piracy in the workplace

The RIAA, MPAA, and IFPI have issued a joint brochure to corporations in the U.S. warning them to stop their employees from downloading copyrighted material, or face legal consequences. Part of an attached letter read:

“Unfortunately, employees of companies and other organizations sometimes use their employers’ computer systems to engage in unauthorized copying of music, movies and other copyrighted material. Such activities on your systems can put your organization at legal risk, tarnish your organization’s reputation and increase security risks for your computer systems.”

This isn’t the first time this has happened. In October of 2002, they warned CEOs and universities about the “dangers” of file trading.
