If passed in it’s current state, the Digital Media Consumers’ Rights Act would modify the DMCA so that copy-protected products would have to be labeled as such, and so that encryption could be broken as long as it’s for a legitimate purpose (playing DVDs on your computer, backing up CDs, etc.)
