If the “success” of the PressPlay service (or lack there of) was any hint of a business model that you should veer away from, then these retailers wouldn’t be attempting this. Oh well, here we go again.
“Best Buy and its joint venture partners are entering a marketplace where success is uncertain. Record labels, Internet companies and individual recording artists all have attempted to sell music downloads and met only mixed success. The new venture, called Echo, will compete with the popular free music-download sites such as Kazaa, subscription-based services from companies such as Listen.com and record label-backed sites such as Pressplay.com.”
