Why shouldn’t Gnutella developers make money

It seems to be a myth that P2P,especially Gnutella developers, exist only to provide us users with the latest ways for us to get our files. Whenever there is mention of developers trying to make money there is usually uproar from the filesharing puritans.
I have a sneaky suspiscion that Gnutella developers are humans too,and being human they have to eat, dress and provide a roof over their heads, and maybe even make a little extra on top.
What is so wrong with this? Support these developers now or eventually we might end up having to go back to the days of actually paying for stuff. Perish the thought!
