Ares goes solo

Earlier this year, Ares introduced a client that provided a satisfactory gateway to the Gnutella network. Realizing that Gnutella would take this client only so far, they have instead opted to design their own decentralized peer networking protocol.

Much like WinMX and FileNavigator, much of Ares core nucleus (no pun intended) has gone along with the project. As of the time of this writing, over 1,000 individuals have already populated the network. Considering that FileTopia only had 1,000 users a few month ago, things are definitely looking up.

The client itself is clean and streamlined (looks much like Limewire or KaZaA), and it comes with no spyware or adware. Its system requirements are comparable with any typical P2P application. In addition, the network supports the sharing of any file type, along with multi-source downloading. With 1,000 individuals already on board, this network stands a good chance of becoming an important player in P2P world. Give ‘em a shot.
