The Exploit Systems BBS is reporting that Altnet have appointed a new Chief Scientist, who brings with him a hashing technology called TrueNames.
In exchange for his new job, Ron Lachman is granting an exclusive license to the “TrueNames” hash technology to Altnet. All of which begs the question: What are they going to do with it?
They are guessing it might be a move toward building a controlled P2P network, in which only authenticated, hash-verified content is allowed to be traded. Lachman said “I share Altnet’s vision to create a network that significantly lowers the costs of online distribution by making it easier for peers to get non-infringing content from each other.”
Sounds almost as appealing as Yaga, CenterSpan or Kontiki.
