Dutch Threat

In today’s WSJ, an interesting article was written about the newest file sharing shelter, the Netherlands. If you havn’t already heard the Netherlands has become the worlds first file sharing shelter to lawsuit prone P2P companies. A recent Dutch court ruled KaZaA was not responsible for the trading of online work, rather the users of KaZaA are responsible. The court ruled KaZaA was a legitimate service provider and was not breaking any laws. The story is packed with stats and quotes from your favorite P2P stars.


I had a chance to discuss the future of file sharing overseas with the stories author, I informed him that many file sharing companies have discussed the possibilities of moving overseas but were hesitant to discuss the move publicly due to rumors and possible litigation. Zp was mentioned in the story as being “the leading clearinghouse of information and discussion about the business. (p2p)”
