Saw this over at Mtv news, rapper tech n9ne started a movement called F.T.I. (F*!# The Industry) or more politely Free The Industry, he is offering everyone to freely download his album off his >website. I even listened to a couple of his tracks and he said he was encourging file sharing and that they were doing some crazy sh~#. Here is one paragraph taken from their site saying:

“We believe in giving our record away for free because if you like it, we believe that you will buy it and support the artist. In addition to the CD, there is a full length 70 minute DVD and 7 extra tracks in our ABSOLUTE POWER package that you will find at your local music retailer. It is very important to us that you realize that we respect you and your hard earned money.”

The downside is that mp3s are 96bitrate on the site.

Mtv article.
